History

Forest Guards (FGs) looks after the ecological security aspects of our state. It is thus the fundamental task of this Academy to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to equip the FGs to effectively manage 44% of state’s geographical area

The Academy conducts various training programmers to strengthen professional efficiency

  • Professional Forestry training for Forest Guards through a series of class room sessions, tours, excursions and specialized modules. It nurtures young foresters capable of making difference in the management of ecological assets of our state besides inculcating human values and professional ethics amongst them.
  • The FGs get a chance to interact with the experts of respective fields and also get exposure to best management practices of natural resources
  • Training programmes and workshops with an endeavour to provide a platform for sharing experiences and new learnings in the field of forest management.

  • To increase/maintain the area of forest cover and its density in Chhattisgarh by introducing the best management practices.
  • To increase the productivity of Forests.
  • To uplift economic condition of indigenous people by generating forest base activities.
  • To conserve endangered and threatened species and augment our gene pool

Training & Courses

The Training

The Course program is conducted through a series of class room sessions, tours, excursions and specialized modules. Besides, assignments are given from time to time on specified subjects. Attendance in all these activities is compulsory.

Class Room Sessions

Lecture sessions are primarily intended for systematic transfer of knowledge. Patrons are advised to be alert and participate in the training/learning process.

 

The academic activities at the Academy are divided into pre and post-lunch sessions. Generally, the post-lunch sessions are devoted towards practical exercises.

Tours/Excursions/Exercises

Study tours form an integral part of the training; and are arranged so that the FGs can learn and understand the practice of forestry in its variations in different parts of the state. This enables them to understand the scope of their duties and responsibilities as Forest Guards. PRA tools testing in fringe area villages and formulating participatory management plans or micro-plans.

Guest Lectures

To provide current information on various technological and socio-economic developments, persons of eminence are invited to deliver special lectures. This helps in developing the perceptions of the Probationer on important issues through interaction with the visiting dignitaries.

Training Procedure / Protocol

  1. Instructor office issues letter to division office for asking permission to organize training from Head office
  2. Division office sends request letter to APPCF, HR & Information for consent for training
  3. Head office sends permission and list of trainees is colatted from various division offices
  4. Affidavit and consent is taken from Trainee Forest Guards
  5. Hostel room is allotted and a security Deposit of Rs. 3000 is collected from each Trainee
  6. Daily Report is published regarding the trainees and the training
  7. Weekly Feedback Activities from Trainees
  8. Post Three Month Training, exams are conducted
  9. Post Exams, 10 Days Educational Tour is conducted
  10. For FInal Exams, Instructor office readies TImetable and External Examinor is appointed
  11. Post Final Exams PT, Parade, Field Work, Marathon and Sports activities are conducted
  12. Convocation is conducted then with cheif guest selected from the Instructor office
  13. After convocation Certificate and induction of Forest guards takes place

Training Daily Schedule

प्रशिक्षण के दौरान प्रशिक्षार्थियों की दिनचर्या इस प्रकार रहती है:-

दिनचर्या प्रातः 6ः00 से 7ः30 तक शारीरिक व्यायाम व परेड
दिनचर्या प्रातः 7ः30 से 9ः00 तक स्नान, चाय नाष्ता
प्रातः 9ः00 से 1ः15 बजे तक व्याख्यान कक्ष में विभिन्न विषयों का अध्यापन कार्य
दोपहर : 1ः15 से 3ः00 बजे तक भोजन एवं विश्राम
दोपहर : 3ः00 से 4ः00 बजे तक क्षेत्रीय कार्य, रोपणी कार्य, सर्वेक्षण का प्रायोगिक कार्य।
सायं: 4ः00 से 4ः30 बजे तक चाय एवं विश्राम।
सायं: 4ः30 से 5ः30 बजे तक खेल गतिविधि।
सायं: 6ः00 से 8ः00 बजे तक सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम एवं विश्राम।
सायं: 8ः00 बजे से 8ः30 बजे तक रोल काल एवं ईष वंदना।
सायं: 8ः30 से 9ः00 बजे तक भोजन।
सायं: 9ः00 के पष्चात् अध्ययन एवं रात्रि विश्राम।
